When downcast, pray
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the
Lord.
Primary Text
“Why,
my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42v11 (NIV)
As we go about our daily lives, issues may arise that cause us
to become downcast. While the opposite of downcast is happy, synonyms for
downcast include dejected, depressed, sad, down, disappointed, discouraged,
disheartened, unhappy, downhearted and dismayed. As we seek to glorify God in
our lives and carry out the assignments we have been called to do, we may
encounter times of deep sorrow. What then do we do in these situations? Many
times we are so down it seems hard to pray. But if we take an example from our
Lord Jesus, at the time when He was exceedingly sorrowful, He prayed, and
prescribed the same for His disciples that were with Him. Luke 22v44-46 (AMP)
says “And being in an agony [of mind], He prayed [all the] more
earnestly and intently, and His
sweat became like great clots of blood dropping down upon the ground. And when
He got up from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from
grief, And He said to them, Why do you sleep? Get up and pray that you may not
enter [at all] into temptation.” Are you overwhelmed today, pray! Are you
sorrowful, pray! Do you need rest for your spirit, soul and body, pray! Matthew
11v28 (AMP) says “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause
you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]”
Prayer
Why don’t you go to the Lord today with that
burden.
