A Chaste Conversation
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“In
like manner, you married women, be submissive to your own husbands [subordinate
yourselves as being secondary to and dependent on them, and adapt yourselves to
them], so that even if any do not obey the Word [of God], they may be won over
not by discussion but by the [godly] lives of their wives, When they observe
the pure and modest way in which you
conduct yourselves, ...” 1 Peter 3v1-2 (AMP)
It’s
interesting that the Bible here talks about purity with regards to a wife.
Unfortunately, not many uphold the sanctity of marriage. Where Hebrews 13v4
(NIV) tells us that “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed
kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
Proverbs 7v6-19 (see below) tells us of the adulterous wife. Proverbs 31v10-12
(NLT) on the other hand speaks of the virtuous woman: “Who can find a virtuous
and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the
days of her life.” As a woman are you living a life of purity? Are your motives
and actions pure towards your husband? Can you be trusted? As a lady who will
one day be married, are you living a life that is doing your husband good? Are
you keeping the sanctity of the marriage that would one day be? Husbands and
men who are yet to be married, are you doing the same?

Text
“While
I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, I saw some naïve
young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. He was crossing the
street near the house of an immoral woman, strolling down the path by her
house. It was at twilight, in the evening, as deep darkness fell. The woman
approached him, seductively dressed and sly of heart. She was the brash,
rebellious type, never content to stay at home. She is often in the streets and
markets, soliciting at every corner. She threw her arms around him and kissed
him, and with a brazen look she said, “I’ve just made my peace offerings and
fulfilled my vows. You’re the one I was looking for! I came out to find you,
and here you are! My bed is spread with beautiful blankets, with colored sheets
of Egyptian linen. I’ve perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come,
let’s drink our fill of love until morning. Let’s enjoy each other’s caresses,
for my husband is not home. He’s away on a long trip.” Proverbs 7v6-19 (NLT)
Prayer
Thank
God for His Word. Praise Him for His ways. Repent if your ways have not been
pure in His sight and towards your husband. Pray God will help you do your
husband good and not evil all the days of your life.
