Words of Grace
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary
Text
“Let no foul or polluting
language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of
your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual
progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be
a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it.” Ephesians 4v29
(AMP)
Beloved, how are the words
that are coming out of your mouth? Are they foul? Are they polluting –
corrupting yourself and the hearers? Are they evil? Are they unwholesome? Are
they worthless? How are the words, the music you are listening to? Ephesians
4v29 encourages us that these sorts of words should never come out of our
mouths. On the other hand, we should let the words we speak be good and beneficial
to the spiritual progress of others. Wow. We should speak words that are
fitting to the need and the occasion. When we are about to speak, we can ask,
is this appropriate? Is this needed? Does this occasion call for it? At the end
of the day, these words should be a blessing and give grace to those who hear
it. Matthew 12v36 (AMP) tells us that “But I tell you, on the day of judgment
men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word
they speak.” The Easy to Read Version says “I tell you that everyone will have
to answer for all the careless things they have said. This will happen on the
day of judgment.”
Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word this day. Father,
grant me grace that the words that I speak will be words of grace, edifying to
those around me. Let my speech always be gracious, and pleasant and seasoned
with salt in Jesus name, amen.
