Blessed are the Merciful!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on
this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“May blessing (praise,
laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the
Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly
realm!” Ephesians 1v3 (AMP)
Another group of
people who the Bible says are blessed are the merciful. Matthew 5v7 (AMP) says
“Blessed (happy, to be envied, and
spiritually prosperous—with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and
salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the merciful, for they
shall obtain mercy!” Our Father in heaven is the epitome of merciful, and He
wants us to be merciful as well. We find that a lack of forgiveness can hinder
God from forgiving we ourselves because in His mercy He has forgiven us from
our sins… how much more should we extend the same hand of mercy to others –
even when we think they are not deserving of it. The following parable gives a
good illustration of this: ““The Kingdom of Heaven can be compared to a king
who decided to bring his accounts up to date. In the process, one of his
debtors was brought in who owed him $10 million!$10 million, literally, “10,000 talents.” Approximately
£3 million. He couldn’t pay, so the king ordered him sold for the debt,
also his wife and children and everything he had. “But the man fell down before
the king, his face in the dust, and said, ‘Oh, sir, be patient with me and I
will pay it all.’ “Then the king was filled with pity for him and released him
and forgave his debt. “But when the man left the king, he went to a man who
owed him $2,000$2,000, approximately
£700. and grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. “The man fell
down before him and begged him to give him a little time. ‘Be patient and I
will pay it,’ he pled. “But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested
and jailed until the debt would be paid in full. “Then the man’s friends went
to the king and told him what had happened. And the king called before him the
man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil-hearted wretch! Here I forgave you all
that tremendous debt, just because you asked me to— shouldn’t you have mercy on
others, just as I had mercy on you?’ “Then the angry king sent the man to the
torture chamber until he had paid every last penny due. So shall my heavenly
Father do to you if you refuse to truly forgive your brothers.”” (Matthew
18v23-35, TLB).
Prayer
Father, I thank You
for Your Word and the mercy You have shown unto me. Please help me to be
merciful in Jesus name, amen.
