Love is Kind
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Love
is very patient and kind…” 1 Corinthians 13v
One
of the things that love is, is kind. God is concerned about us showing kindness
to people. 1 Corinthians 13v1-3 says “If I speak in the tongues of men or of
angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to
hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing” (1 Corinthians
13v1-3, KJV). Here we see that God is really concerned about us acting beyond
just the manifestation of the power of God. If you do that e.g. speak in
tongues, have great faith, or exhibit a show of kindness by giving to the poor
and subjecting your body under hardship, but you do not have love, you are
nothing. Love is very patient and love is kind. Kind means to be “of a good or
benevolent nature or disposition, as a person”. Synonyms include mild, gentle,
tender, compassionate. Ephesians 4v32 (KJV) says “And be ye kind one to
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake
hath forgiven you.” Matthew 5v47 (NLT) says “If you are kind only to your
friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.” Beloved,
who are you kind to? Remember the parable of the good Samaritan. Are you kind
to those who are not your friends? Matthew 5v7 (TLB) says “Happy are the kind
and merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.” Now, the Spirit of God in us produces
kindness (Galatians 5v22-23). May we indeed be kind to all in Jesus name, amen.
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for Your Spirit in us who helps us to
be kind. Help us to be kind to all people o God, and not to show any partiality.
Let Your name be glorified in all that we do in Jesus name, amen.

The parable of the Good Samaritan
25 And, behold, a certain
lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit
eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What
is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and
with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him,
Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to
justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering
said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among
thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed,
leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there
came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the
other side.
32 And likewise a Levite,
when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other
side.
33 But a certain
Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had
compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and
bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and
brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when
he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto
him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I
will repay thee.
36 Which now of these
three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And
he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou
likewise.”
