The Will of God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;” Colossians 1v9 (KJV)

“So ever since we first heard about you we have kept on praying and asking God to help you understand what He wants you to do; asking Him to make you wise about spiritual things;” Colossians 1v9 (TLB)

“For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things –” Colossians 1v9 (AMP)

Not only is it possible to know the will of God, it is also very possible and good to pray to have insight into the will of God. This is a prayer that Paul prayed in his letter to the Colossians. He also mentioned they had not ceased praying for them about it. We see as well in Romans 12v2 (NIV) which says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. In a sense, there is the way of the world, the way things are done, but we are being called to change our way of thinking, not to pattern ourselves according to the way of the world. The NLT says “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Ephesians 1v18 (NLT) says “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand ...” I pray that our hearts will indeed be flooded with light; that God will give us illumination into His ways, and His will. That is my desire, to know and have complete knowledge of His will, and the grace to walk in His will always.

Prayer

Father, I thank You for Your Word. I pray that You will indeed transform my way of thinking that I will know Your will for me, that which is good and pleasing and perfect in Jesus name, amen.
