Divine intimacy
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the access we have to His throne of
grace, and to Him all the time. Though we were formerly afar off, we have been
brought near by the blood of Jesus, and we thank God for that. But how many of
us are truly drawing near to the Lord, to know Him, to know His ways, to meet
His needs.
It is one thing to draw near to the Lord, to seek
and desire His presence, and His attention because there is a gap – whether physical,
spiritual, material or otherwise – in our lives, and another to draw near to
Him to be His friend. Someone said yesterday that she chooses her friends based
on what she can give to them. We see a distinction in approach to friendship
with God between Moses and the Israelites where Psalm 103v7 (King James
Version) says “He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of
Israel.” As young children, we would call some people “Friend for Food”. These
are friends who are only on hand to get what they want from you.
Don’t get me wrong, God is our Father and wants
to meet all of our needs. Indeed, He desires to meet all of our needs, but He
also desires our honour, fellowship and relationship. That’s why we see a prioritization
of God first, and then our needs will follow in Matthew 6v31-34 (The Living
Bible) which says ““So don’t worry at all about having enough food and
clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and
are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows
perfectly well that you need them, and He will give them to you if you give Him
first place in your life and live as He wants you to. “So don’t be anxious
about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a
time.” Some other translation will say seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (v33). Beloved, let
us put God first, let us seek His ways, and enter into a true love relationship
with Him. Let us not lose our first love!
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We ask for
Your forgiveness in any way we have departed from You being our first love, in
any way we have put other things and people before You. Forgive us Daddy. We desire
to be intimate with You. Lord, put a deep love for You in our hearts; help us
to be dissatisfied with anything less than intimacy with You in Jesus name,
amen.
