What do you live for?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Many ask questions like what is my purpose on earth? What am I here for? What am I living for? What do I have to live for? Child of God, what do you live for? Is it for your family? Is it to make a difference in the world? Is it to survive from day to day?

2 Corinthians 5v15 relays an important message about who and what we should live for:
“And He died for all, so that all those who live might live no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.” (Classic Amplified Version)

“He died for all so that all who live—having received eternal life from him—might live no longer for themselves, to please themselves, but to spend their lives pleasing Christ who died and rose again for them.” (The Living Bible)

“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” (King James Version)

Indeed, Christ died for us that we may live to please Him. Hallelujah. This gives life meaning. This makes life worth it. If we live unto man, we would be sorely disappointed. If we live unto self, we would be sorely disappointed. But only the One who died for us is trustworthy and dependable. John 15 encourages us to abide in Him and He in us, noting that apart from Him we can do nothing. In Him is life (John 1v4), and clearly stated in Acts 17v28 is “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; …” (King James Version).

So, beloved, let us find our satisfaction in Him, let us live for Him and to please Him; anything else and we would find ourselves in confusion and sorely dissatisfied. In conclusion, we see in 1 Corinthians 6v20 (Classic Amplified Version) which says “You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.”

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word. We thank You for the death of Jesus on the cross. Blessed be Your name forevermore. Lord, we ask that we would live to please You in all that we do, for the reality is that we are Yours. Everything in our lives that is taking Your place of honour and Lordship, we ask that You remove far from us in Jesus name, amen. It is indeed a pleasure to live to please You because in You alone is life. Blessed be Your holy name forevermore in Jesus name, amen.
