Add Godliness (2)
Dearly beloved, I trust this finds you well and bubbling
in the Lord. 2 Peter 1v6 (KJV) tells us some of the things we should be
developing as children of God. It says “And to knowledge
temperance, and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;”. It is good for a nation to have godly people and
leaders. 1 Timothy 4v7-8 (NLT) tells us that “Do not waste time arguing over
godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead train yourself to be godly. “Physical
training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits
in this life and in the life to come.” Proverbs 15v9 (NLT) also lets us know
that “The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but He loves those who pursue
godliness.”
Proverbs 14v34 (NLT) also says “Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a
disgrace to any people.” With this in mind, it is good to remember 1 Timothy
2v1-4 (NIV) which says “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers,
intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those
in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness. This
is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to
come to a knowledge of the truth.” Many may be looking at their countries and
thinking it is full of ungodliness, corruption, and no good thing seems to be
coming out of it. But we can keep praying for people in our countries, and in
other countries, and also commit the leaders and authorities into the hands of
God. This, as the Scripture says, pleases the
Lord.
Prayer
Father, I thank You
for Your Word. Father, I pray You will give unto me the Spirit of the fear of
the Lord, that I would truly reverence You, not just with my mouth, but from my
heart. I pray as well for people all over the world, and leaders, that You will
send laborers to them, that they might come to the knowledge of the truth, and
that You will grant leaders godly wisdom in making decisions. All this we pray
believing and with thanksgiving, in Jesus name, amen.
