The unimportance of things!
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, faithfulness - thank You Lord for everything.
Primary Text
“God
chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used
them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.” 1 Corinthians
1v28 (NLT)
The
Bible has told us that “For when the world with all its earthly wisdom failed
to perceive and recognize and know God by means of its own philosophy, God in
His wisdom was pleased through the foolishness of preaching [salvation,
procured by Christ and to be had through Him], to save those who believed (who
clung to and trusted in and relied on Him).” (1 Corinthians 1v21, AMP). And
from 1 Corinthians 1v28, we see how God has brought to nothing what the world
considers important. For example:
Life, drink, food, cloth: “Therefore I tell you, stop being
perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or
what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life
greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent]
than clothing? … Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we
going to have to eat, or, What are we gong to have to drink? or, What are we
going to have to wear? For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and
diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you
need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and
His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things
taken together will be given you besides.” Matthew 6v25, 31-33 (AMP).
Money, riches, fame: “No one can serve two masters; for
either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be
devoted to the one and despise and be against the other. You cannot serve God
and mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions, or whatever is trusted in).”
Matthew 6v24 (AMP)
Supplementary Text
“[This
is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men,
and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians
1v25 (AMP
Prayer
Our
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word, Your Kingdom and Your Presence.
Father, we pray that we will not copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but will let God transform us into a new person by changing the way we think.
Then we will learn to know God’s will for us, which is good and pleasing and
perfect, in Jesus name, amen.
