Sharing the Gospel
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His
mercy, grace, and the salvation of our souls.
Primary Text
“As
for myself, brethren, when I came to you, I did not come proclaiming to you the
testimony and evidence or mystery and secret of God [concerning what He has
done through Christ for the salvation of men] in lofty words of eloquence or
human philosophy and wisdom; For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted
with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be
conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him
crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2v1-2 (AMP)
“You’ll
remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s master
stroke, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest
philosophy. I deliberately kept it simple: first Jesus and who He is; then
Jesus and what He did – Jesus crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2v1-2 (MSG)
We
see a couple of things from these verses. One is that Paul proclaimed the
testimony of God. Now God had sent him to the Gentiles to do this, but we also
as given in the great commission by our Lord Jesus can and should tell others
about the testimony of Christ. Matthew 28v19-20 (NIV) says “Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Furthermore,
before He left, Jesus told us about the Holy Spirit who would be our helper.
Acts 1v4&8 says “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them
that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the
Father, which, saith He, ye have heard of Me… But ye shall receive power, after
that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in
Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.”
Supplementary Text
“Those
who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead
many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12v3 (NIV)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word, for the testimony we have in You and Your Spirit in
us and upon us. We pray O Lord that we will proclaim the gospel unashamedly in
Jesus name, amen.
