The wisdom of God – the gospel of Jesus Christ
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Yet
when we are among the full-grown (spiritually mature Christians who are ripe in
understanding), we do impart a [higher] wisdom (the knowledge of the divine
plan previously hidden); but it is indeed not a wisdom of this present age or
of this world nor of the leaders and rulers of this age, who are being brought
to nothing and are doomed to pass away. But rather what we are setting forth is
a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to
us by God – [that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our
glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].” 1 Corinthians 2v6-7
(AMP)
The
wisdom Paul speaks to the spiritually mature is different from the wisdom of
this world or the rulers of this age. It is the wisdom that depicts the gospel of
Jesus Christ; God’s own plan of salvation. The Dakes reference Bible writes
this “The wisdom of God – the gospel of Jesus Christ, which was hidden up to
the time of its revelation and which God ordained before this age for us. None
of the rulers of this world knew this revelation. If they had known it they
would not have crucified the Lord. Prophets searched diligently to understand
what they prophesied about it, and even angels themselves desired to comprehend
it (1 Peter 1:10-13). Such mystery is now made clear through the preaching of
the apostles and the revelation of the Scriptures of the N.T. (Rom. 1:1-5;
16:25-26; 1 Cor. 2:9-16; Gal. 1:12, 16; Eph. 3:1-8; Heb. 8:6; 2 Pet. 3:16)…” You
will agree with me that though this mystery, this wisdom of God has now been
revealed, it is not the wisdom of this age, neither is it the popular wisdom.
Yet beloved, it is nothing to be ashamed of, and as Paul writes in Romans 1v16
(KJV) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God
unto salvation to every one who believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the
Greek.”
Supplementary Text
“Now
to Him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I
proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery
hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the
prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles
might come to the obedience that comes from faith –” Romans 16v25-26 (NIV)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your plan of salvation. We thank You for drawing us to
Yourself. We ask that You will give us spiritual wisdom and insight so that we
might grow in our knowledge of God. We pray that our hearts will be flooded
with light so that we can understand the confident hope You have given to those
You called, Your holy people who are Your rich and glorious inheritance, in
Jesus name, amen.
