Our Help in temptations
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the
Lord. We thank God for His great grace which He has bestowed upon us and the
fact that He is able to help us in our temptations and when things are going
wrong. Interestingly enough, often times, when believers are in trouble, or
being tempted, we tend to shy away from the One who is able to help us through
it. It is true that God doesn’t tempt us with lusts as we see in James 1v13:
“For remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting
him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it” (The
Living Bible). Nevertheless, He is able to help us through them.
For example, 1 Corinthians 10v13 (The Living Bible) says “But
remember this—the wrong desires that come into your life aren’t anything new
and different. Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you. And
no temptation is irresistible. You can trust God to keep the temptation from
becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it, for He has promised this
and will do what He says. He will show you how to escape temptation’s power so
that you can bear up patiently against it.” The Classic Amplified Version puts
it this way “For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no
matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid
hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come
to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted
and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear].
But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can
be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed
beyond your ability and strength
of resistance and power
to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out
(the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it
patiently.”
Seeing then that God is faithful and wants to help us in our
temptations, we should come boldly to Him. Hebrews 4v14-16 (The Message) says “Now
that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to
God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is
out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing,
experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to Him and get what
He is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” While Hebrews 2v17-18
(New English Translation) says “Therefore He had to be made like His brothers
and sisters in every respect, so that He could become a merciful and faithful
high priest in things relating to God, to make atonement for the sins of the
people. For since He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to
help those who are tempted.”

Are you going through temptations and difficulties right now? Why
don’t you take it to the Lord in prayer that He may help you through it, and
