For the sake of the children
Hello
everyone,
How are
you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. When we think of
God as our Father, what are some of the things that come to mind – Provider,
Protector, Guide, Love, Joy, Peace, Safety… doesn’t play with His kids, gives
them the best, demands righteousness, holiness and Christ-like behavior from
them e.t.c. As humans, while we have our heavenly Father, we do have earthly
families as well, with each playing an important role, whether as a father,
mother, sibling or child.
Oh, how
good and how pleasant it is for “families” to dwell together in love and unity
(Psalm 133v1). How wonderful if our homes are the haven of God’s presence, that
His Kingdom come and His will be done in our homes (Matthew 6v10). As parents,
the lives we live and lead have a huge impact on our children. It shapes their
reality and perspective on life. If we walk in the Spirit and are led by the
Spirit of God, He can help us to raise these children in the way that pleases
the Lord.
I
believe that the attributes one needs to be a good Christian would pertain to
being a good parent as well. The same Spirit of Christ who gives us victory in
ministry and helps us to live an overcoming Christian life can help us bring the
glory of God in our families. As we know there is no law against the fruit of
the Spirit. Galatians 5v22-23 (The Living Bible) say “But the fruit of the
[Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy
(gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness
(benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control
(self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring
a charge].”
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for this day. We thank You because children are a gift
from You and the fruit of the womb is our inheritance. O Lord, we pray that as
parents You will help us to take care of this children in ways that would bring
You glory. We pray that we would work in the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts
of our flesh. We commit our children into Your hands for You are able to keep
that which is committed into Your hands until that day. Please keep and guide
and protect them from evil in Jesus name we pray, amen.
