Seeking God’s Guidance
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the
Lord. As believers, we need to be led by the Spirit of God, to know what God
would have us do. One of the reasons is that there are things which seemingly
look good, but they are not of God, or not God would have us do. Indeed, we see
in 1 Corinthians 10v23 (New Living Translation) where the Word of God says “You
say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say,
“I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.”
We see an example of this in Acts 16v6-8 (Classic Amplified Bible)
says “And Paul and Silas passed through the territory of Phrygia and Galatia,
having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Word in [the province
of] Asia. And when they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into
Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them. Beloved, let us learn to
wait upon God for His guidance. Preaching the Word of God is a good thing and
it is required of us as believers, but we see in this specific situation, the
Lord didn’t want Paul and Silas to do it – and He knows best. Remember that the
Spirit of God is in us and with us and teaches us all things, and leads and
guides us into all the truth (John 14v26; John 16v13; Romans 8v14).
One thing we can pray to the Lord of is discernment – having good
judgment, being able to say between what is right and what is not. Isaiah 11v3
says “… And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, neither decide by the
hearing of His ears:” May God bring us to the point of deep sensitivity to
spiritual things that we would not be moved by what the physical is saying but
be led by what the Spirit of God is saying to us.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your Word, and for Your guidance. Thank
You for You lead us along the best pathway for our lives. We are indeed
grateful. We ask Lord that You would grant us a spirit of discernment, to be
able to accurately judge situations. We pray that we will be sensitive to the
leading of Your Spirit and not be moved by what we see with our eyes or hear
with our ears in Jesus name, amen.
