Let the Word of God dwell in you richly (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. One of the things I find enriching is to listen to an audio Bible, whether I am lying down, or in a moving vehicle, doing some work or even as I read the Word of God. There is something about listening to the Word of God that is soothing, comforting and you learn and pick up a message or two. Colossians 3v16 (The Living Bible) says “Remember what Christ taught, and let His words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing to the Lord with thankful hearts.” Colossians 3v16 (TLB)

Beloved, we are asked to let the Word of Christ dwell richly within us; letting it have full run of the house. We need to listen, read, study, meditate on the Word of God. I read somewhere some ways on how we can let the Word dwell in us more richly. First, we can feed on the Word – taking it as our daily food to nourish us every morning. We can pray-read through scripture, taking a few verses and really meditating and praying with them, chewing and ruminating on them. Remember, man is a spirit, who has a soul (mind, emotion, and will) and a body. We need to feed our spirit with the Word of God. When the Lord Jesus was tempted by the enemy to turn stone into bread, Matthew 4v4 (King James Version) says “But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

We can also read the Word, spending regular times just reading through the Word, and nourishing ourselves with the Word of God. Psalm 1v3 talks about the man whose delight is in the law delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on it day and night. Colossians 3v16 above also lets us know that we can sing and speak the Word of God. Through this we nourish ourselves, encourage ourselves and even others. Praise the Lord!!!

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Word this day. We thank You because all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work (2 Timothy 3v16-17). Father, give us a deep longing and thirst for You and for Your Word in Jesus name, amen.
