It is Well

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. There was once a great Shunammite woman, who hosted Elisha on a regular basis. Elisha seeking to bless her, said she would have a child about the season from the time he spoke, for he found out from his servant that she had no child, and her husband was old. Although she told the prophet not to lie to her, it was as he said, and she had a child. One day, when the child was grown, and he went out to the field with his father, he declared that his head hurt, before long, he died. The widow hastened to where Elisha was. Elisha saw her from a distance and sent his servant to meet and ask her “Is it well with thee? Is it well with thy husband? Is it well with the child?” To which she said, “It is well”. But when she came to Elisha, she told him what the matter was, and beckoned him to go back with her. Needless to say, Elisha went back with her, and was able through the power of God to raise the child back (2 Kings 3v8-37). Perhaps there are things you are running to God for, and people are asking, is all well. It is well. Our God is able to make alive again. It may be something you had received from the Lord like a job, a child, an education, your life, your everything, and it seems to not be going right, run to God, He is the Fixer.

Supplementary Text: It is well with my soul by Horatio G. Spafford
“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain: It is well, with my soul, it is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, and hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait, The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord! Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!

And the Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.”
