Don’t have to do it!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the life we have as children of God, who have accepted the Lord Jesus as Lord and Savior and have His Spirit in us. Guess what, we are no longer debtors to the flesh to obey it in its lusts anymore!
Primary Text: Romans 8v12
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.” Romans 8v12 (KJV)
“So then, brethren, we brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh.” Romans 8v12 (AMP)
“Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.” Romans 8v12 (NLT)
Imagine a debt collector who comes to your house, or work, or calls you on the phone, and they are saying you owe a certain amount of money, and you have to pay it. Or they set up a payment scheme where once a month you have to pay an interest on a loan you have collected. Or a situation where you even “negotiate” to pay lower than what you had to. As a child of God, you do not have to answer the flesh anymore, don’t need to negotiate with it, or set up a monthly scheme where you indulge in this sin just once a month. You don’t have to do it. You do not owe a debt to the flesh. If you live according to the dictates of the flesh, you will die. But if through the power of the Holy Spirit you are habitually putting to death the evil deeds prompted by the body, you shall live forever (Romans 8v13). Remember how the devil came knock knocking to Jesus and tempting Him, and Jesus replied him “It is written …” (Matthew 4v1-11; Luke 4v1-13). When the flesh or the devil come knock knocking, tell them “It is written…” The Word of God is called the sword of the Spirit, so you attack with the sword of the Spirit. And the Holy Spirit will help you, bringing to remembrance Scripture, and granting you the grace and boldness to continue to stand in Jesus name, amen. Hallelujah for victory in Jesus.
Supplementary Text:
“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If Thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto Him, if Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning Thee: and in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any time thou dash Thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto Him, All these things will I give Thee, if Thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him.” Matthew 4v1-11 (KJV)
“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Ephesians 6v14-18 (KJV)
Prayer
Father, thank You so much for we are not debtors to the flesh, but we thank You because through the Spirit we can continually put to the evil deeds prompted by the flesh in Jesus name, amen.
