Life!

Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the life we have as children of God, who have accepted the Lord Jesus as Lord and Savior and have His Spirit in us.

Primary Text: Romans 8v11
“And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Romans 8v10-11 (KJV)

“But if Christ lives in you, [then although] your [natural] body is dead by reason of sin and guilt, the spirit is alive because of [the] righteousness [that He imputes to you]. And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.” Romans 8v10-11 (AMP)

“And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living in you.” Romans 8v10-11 (NLT)

The greek for the word quicken is “zoopoieo.” It also means to make alive, or give life. In Genesis, we see the Lord God “commanded the man, … But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2v17). We know Adam and Eve did eat it, but they did not die physically, but yet they were dead. In Romans 6v23 we see that the “For wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Sin and trespasses causes us to die, for it separates us from God. But in Christ “was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1v4). And so, if the Spirit of Him that raised Christ from the dead, dwells in you, your mortal body, is also made alive, or given life, or quickened by that same Spirit.

Supplementary Text:
“AND YOU [He made alive], when you were dead (slain) by [your] trespasses and sins In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God]. Among these we as well as you once lived and conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind. But God -- so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation). And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” Ephesians 2v1-6 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, thank You so much for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord in Jesus name, amen.
