Be Hospitable!!!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“Use hospitability one to another without grudging.” 1 Peter 4v9 (KJV)

“Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). [Be hospitable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Christ’s body.] And [in each instance] do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him).” 1 Peter 4v9 (AMP)

“Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.” 1 Peter 4v9 (NLT)

Many believers pass our way and through our lives. One thing we can do to them is to be cheerfully hospitable towards them. An example we see in the Bible of hospitability is in Genesis 18 (see below). Abraham saw three men standing nearby, while he was sitting at the entrance of his tent, and he hurried to meet them and invited them to come by his place. Another example of hospitality is seen in the great woman of Shunem. The Bible says “One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.” (2 Kings 4v8-10, NIV). We as believers should be hospitable towards one another, and do it cheerfully – doing it as unto the Lord and not unto men, and may we be blessed as we do so in Jesus name, amen.

Supplementary Text
“The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day. Abraham looked up and saw three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he hurried from the entrance of his tent to meet them and bowed low to the ground. He said, “If I have found favor in your eyes, my lord, do not pass your servant by. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree. Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way – now that you have come to your servant.” “Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.” So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. “Quick,” he said, “get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.” Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it. He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.” Genesis 18v1-8 (NIV)

Prayer
Heavenly Father we thank You so much for who You are and for Your word. Father we ask for generous hearts, and the grace to be hospitable, without grudging to others. Please help us to see the opportunities around us to do this, in Jesus name, amen.
