For the time (2)…

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text

“For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, ...” 2 Timothy 4v3 (AMP)

“For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching…” 2 Timothy 4v3 (AMP)

Before this verse, Paul was telling Timothy – “I charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (in the light of) His coming and His kingdom: Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching.” (2 Timothy 4v1-2, AMP). Then verse 3 comes where he tells him about a time: This is a time when people would not endure, or stand for sound doctrine or teaching. Are you enduring sound teaching, doctrine or instruction? Are you submissive to the Word that you hear and allow it to change your life? 1 Peter 2v2 (KJV) says “As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” While James 1v21-22 (NIV) says “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father we thank You so much for Your Word. Father, we pray for the grace to endure sound teaching and instruction and not be offended by Your Word, in Jesus name, amen.
