Sanctified (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“To
the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus…” 1
Corinthians 1v2 (NIV)
One
commentary notes that “Sanctification is the process of Christian growth
through which the Holy Spirit makes us like Christ.” (Romans 8v29). Again, to
be sanctified means “to cleanse or set apart for sacred use; to declare or make
holy.” 2 Thessalonians 2v13 (NIV) says “But we ought always to thank God for
you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be
saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the
truth.” In the life of the believer, we see that the Holy Spirit carries out a
work of sanctification. Remember that those who do not have the Spirit of
Christ, do not belong to Him (Romans 8v9). And as we yield to God’s Spirit in
us, we are engaging in the process of sanctification. As we hearken - listen to
and obey the Word of truth, and allow it to transform us, and as we yield to
the Spirit of God, choosing to follow Him instead of our flesh or the world, we
are being sanctified – separated and cleansed for the Master’s use.
Supplementary Text
“And
all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word
of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured
into His very own image in ever increasing splendor from one degree of glory to
another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians
3v18 (AMP)
