The Name of Jesus Christ
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
because in all situations we can give thanks. Blessed be His holy name
forevermore, amen.
Primary Text
“Unto
the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of
Jesus Christ …
There
is a song which goes along these lines, “The name, the name of Jesus, is higher
than any other name, it is not an ordinary name, it’s a name that’s full of
power and praise.” Hallelujah! A name is very significant, and most important.
When you mention the name of a person, if others are familiar with that person,
they can immediately conjure up either an image or some idea about the person. In
Matthew 1v20-21, we are told of how an angel appeared to Joseph in a dream to
tell him that the child Mary was with was conceived of the Holy Ghost, “And she
shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save
His people from their sins.” What do you think of when you hear the name of
Jesus? (v21, KJV). Philippians 2v9-11 (NIV) tells us that “Therefore God
exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every
name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth
and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father.” The name of Jesus is higher and greater, more
powerful, than any other name – sickness, disease, reproach, shame, poverty,
disappointment, barrenness … These all bow to the name of Jesus. Moreover, we
are told:
Supplementary Text
“And
there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under
heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.” Acts 4v12 (AMP)
