Life-Giving Words (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
In the daytime also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, He smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can He provide flesh for his people? Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation: Though He had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.” Psalm 74v14-24 (KJV)

The words we speak can either cause life or death. Proverbs 18v21 (KJV) says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” The words we speak reflect whether we believe in God or we do not. Hebrews 11v6 is a reminder that without faith it is impossible to please God, for those who come to Him must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Beloved, we need to be careful what we speak about and what we say when we face hard times. The fact is that these trials and tribulations will come, but the fact that God is good and loves us does not change. We must never let the situations that come our way draw us away from God. In the verses above, the children of Israel showed deep discontent against God. Yes, they had the testimonies of what He had done in time past, but in contempt they spoke that could He really do these other things? Beloved, there is nothing too difficult for the Lord and I pray that as we go through life that we would be of good cheer for He has overcome it for us.

Supplementary Text
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]” John 16v33 (AMPC)

“Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.” Isaiah 41v10 (AMPC)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for the power You have given to words. We ask O Lord for Your mercy and forgiveness for words that we have spoken against You even though You have shown us Your faithfulness over and over again. Forgive us O Lord. We pray that You will help us that our words will always glorify You and be life-giving words in Jesus name, amen.
