Why Pray?

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God so much for the privilege and the opportunity to be able to pray. The Bible tells us that:

Primary Text
“Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];” 1 Thessalonians 5v17 (AMP)

Jesus gives us the perfect example of a life of prayer. The Bible says; “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” (Mark 1v35). Also, “And it came to pass in those days, that He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” Luke 6v12 (KJV). Again the Bible says “And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone.” (Matthew 14v23). While we pray as we fellowship with believers, it is important to note that prayer can also be a very “alone” thing, when we pray to our Father in heaven. In fact the Bible tells us that “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Jesus encouraged the disciples that “Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.” (Mark 14v38). We are encouraged to “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5v17) and about “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” (Ephesians 6v18). As believers, prayer is essential. Let us continue always in prayer.

Supplementary Text:
“For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” 1 Corinthians 14v14-15

Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for goodness. We thank You so much for the ability and the power to pray. We pray for the grace to continue to pray at all times with all kinds of prayer, in Jesus name, amen.
