Meditate
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“This
book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is
written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou
shalt have good success.” Joshua 1v8 (KJV)
To
meditate is “to engage in thought or contemplation” (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/meditate?s=t).
It involves mulling over and pondering over something over and over and over
again. Many of us are experts in meditating over problems and challenges –
leading to anxiety and fear. But the Lord will have us meditate upon His Word.
We can meditate on: His unfailing love (Psalm 48v9); on all His works/mighty
acts (Psalm 77v12); on all His marvelous deeds (Psalm 105v2), His statutes
(Psalm 119v23); His decrees (Psalm 119v48); His precept/instructions (Psalm
119v78); His laws (Psalm 119v95); and His promises (Psalm 119v148). Meditation
leads to revelation … and also creates a heart of thanksgiving. We should chew
and ponder and mull over the Word of God; Jeremiah 15v16 (KJV) saying “Thy
words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was unto me the joy and
rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts.”
Supplementary Text
“Oh,
the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around
with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. But they delight in doing
everything God wants them to, and day and night are always meditating on His
laws and thinking about ways to follow Him more closely. They are like trees
along a riverbank bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Their leaves
shall never wither, and all they do shall prosper.” Psalm 1v1-3 (TLB)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for Your Word. We ask for the grace to meditate upon Your
Word daily and for deep revelation and insight into the truths of Your Word in
Jesus name, amen.
