The indwelling Spirit
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
hereby do we know that we know Him…” 1 John 2v3 (KJV)
Another
reason we know that we know God is because of the Holy Spirit dwelling on the
inside of us. 1 John 4v13 (TLB) says “And He has put His own Holy Spirit into
our hearts as a proof to us that we are living with Him and He with us” while 1
John 3v24 (AMP) tells us “All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders
and follow His plan, live and continue to live, to stay and] abide in Him, and
He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of
Christ.] And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really]
lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.” Amen.
The Holy Spirit within us bears witness with our spirits that we are the
children of God (Romans 8v16). The Spirit within us also produces certain fruit,
which stand in stark contrast to the workings of the flesh:
Supplementary Text
“Now
the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality,
impurity, indecency, Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill
temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects
with peculiar opinions, heresies), Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like.
I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the
work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace,
patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence),
faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint,
continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].”
Galatians 5v22-23 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You so much for Your love us. We are grateful for Your Spirit that
lives in us. We ask for a greater infilling of Your Spirit in Jesus name, amen.
