Purifying Ourselves
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“And
hereby do we know that we know Him…” 1 John 2v3 (KJV)
One
reason we know that we know God is that we purify ourselves. 1 John 3v1-3 (NIV)
says “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be
called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not
know us is that it did not know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God,
and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ
appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. All who have this
hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure.” As a believer who knows
God, you develop an hatred for sin. You begin to want to be used by Him and
sing songs like “I give myself away so You can use me”; “purify my heart, let
it be as gold, as precious silver.” You want to stay pure and rapturable; you
are not only concerned about the external and what people see, but even from
the inside out you want to ensure that God who looks at the heart is glorified
by what He sees in there; you want to be a vessel unto honor, fit for His use.
Supplementary Text
“So
whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates
himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then
himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes,
consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work. Shun
youthful lusts and flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all
that is virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in
thought, word, and deed); [and aim at and pursue] faith, love, [and] peace
(harmony and concord with others) in fellowship with all [Christians], who call
upon the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2v21-22 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word. We pray that You will sit as a refiner of silver
who watches closely as dross is burned away, and purify us, refine us as silver
and gold, that we may work for You with pure hearts in Jesus name, amen.
