P.U.S.H
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in Jesus name, amen. We thank God for His love, His faithfulness, and how is eyes are upon the righteous, and His ears are attentive to our cries (Psalm 34v15).
“One day Jesus told His disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”
Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to His chosen people who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will He find on the earth who have faith?” Luke 18v1-8 (New Living Translation)
There are certain attitudes towards prayer that we as believers sometimes adopt that this widow didn’t exhibit:
- Giving up after day one or two when the judge didn’t answer
- Looking at the face and character and welfare of the judge
- The fact that she was being ignored for a while
- Go to someone else besides the judge
As believers, we need to learn to pray until something happens (PUSH), or persist until something happens. While this judge was himself unjust, God is just, and He won’t keep putting off His chosen ones. (“And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them?” Luke 18v7, KJV). Also, let us not start seeking alternative means to the answer to our prayers, or become disheartened at the fact that God is bearing long with us. Again, Jesus concludes by asking that when He returns, will He find faith on the earth? Remember the father of faith Abraham, and how long he waited on God before the answer to his promise came through.
Have a very blessed day.
P.S: Remember faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10v17)
