Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – Dilemma

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His mercies, His grace, and His love for us.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were faced with a dilemma. The king had set up a golden image for them to bow down to, and they served no other God but the Most High. TO make matters worse, they had accusers who had gone to report them to the king, and the implication of this was that for those who did not bow, they were to be thrown into the fiery furnace. If they did not obey the king, they were going to die. Furthermore, there was also pain and shame that they were being subjected to because they were not doing what everyone else was doing. What would you do if you were facing a trial such as this? What would you do when the dilemma seemed so big that the easy way out seemed to succumb? I pray that the good Lord will give you the grace to answer as these 3 men did. The Bible records that:

“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. “ Daniel 3v16-18

Have a very blessed day.

Verses for thought:

“For our light, momentary affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!]

Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting.” 2 Corinthians 4v17-18 (Amplified Bible)

“And be not afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehanna).” Matthew 10v28 (Amplified Bible)
