Psalm 55:22
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His goodness, His lovingkindness and how He just keeps amazing us each day with His lovingkindness and tendermercies. One thing in this Christian walk that I love is the fact that we can cast our cares unto the Lord. 1 Peter 5v7 says we should do this because God cares for us. Psalm 55v22 shows us what God will do as an effect of us casting our cares upon Him:
“Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.” Psalm 55v22 (New International Version)
Some dictionary definitions (from www.dictionary.com) for sustain (and how we can see it in this case) include:
- To support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of, as a structure. (when you cast your cares on the Lord He will support you, hold you, bear you up from below, and bear your weight)
- To keep (a person, the mind, the spirits, etc) from giving way, as under trial or affliction)… (He will keep you going, He won’t let your mind, spirit, or person give way)
- To support (a cause or the like) by aid or approval (He will support you).
Hallelujah. Other versions say:
“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55v22 (King James Version)
“Give your burdens to the LORD, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55v22 (New Living Translation)
“Give your worries to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will never let good people down.” Psalm 55v22 (New Century Version)
“Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).” Psalm 55v22 (Amplified Bible)
This is a deep promise that God is giving here, that is, give Me your cares and burdens, whatever they are – about the future, relationships, work, school, character flaws, … anything, and I will sustain you. HE says He will not let the righteous to be made to slip or fall or fail – that means that thing which you are afraid of and is causing you to worry and care; that thing which you are dreading and think may cause a downfall for you, won’t happen to you, because you will be sustained by the Lord … as long as you are casting these cares to Him and not trying to hide them or handle them all on your own. He won’t permit the righteous to slip.
Hallelujah!!!
Have a very blessed day.
