The Word of God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His mercies, His lovingkindness and His tendermercies. Indeed He is faithful and He is true, merciful and compassionate. His ways are past finding out. The Bible tells us that:

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4v12(King James Version)

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4v12 (New International Version)

“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and (the immortal) spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” Hebrews 4v12 (Amplified Bible).

Ephesians 6v17 speaks of the sword of the Spirit being the Word of God. From Hebrews 4v12, we see certain characteristics of this sword – it is quick, it is living, it is powerful, it is effective, basically it works. It is full of power, so whatever it is applied to, would know that it has had an encounter with a powerful force. It is part of the armor which we are told to take, in order to withstand the evil one.

It is unique, in that it penetrates even to dividing the soul and the spirit. It can separate the mind, emotions and will (soul) from the spirit. It can help you examine yourself - when something is not right, when you are confused about something and trying to separate which is God’s voice and which is just me being me, the sword of the Spirit can help to divide the soul from the spirit and at the same time help you examine yourself. How often do you apply the Word of God to your life?

Have a very blessed day.

Verses for thought:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3v16-17 (New International Version)
