Psalm 77: In the boat!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank Him for His grace and mercy.
“The waters saw Thee, O God, the waters saw Thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.” Psalm 77v16
Our God is God in Heaven and on Earth. And the Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. In Mark 4, the Bible records that:
“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish?
And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” Mark 4v37-41
Our God is able to calm both the storms of life and the stormy seas. For the Israelites, they were facing a “storm” in the sense that the Red Sea was in front of them and Pharaoh and his armies were behind them. You might be in a situation where all around you, things seem to be going wrong, and troubled. But God, is the One who calms the storms, and makes a way where there seem to be no way.
Now, when the disciples woke Him up and asked Him “carest Thou not that we perish?” It was almost as though they were saying, Jesus, we all - including You – are going to perish. Do you not care? Their being fearful and asking “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” and He asking them “Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” almost confirms that in their waking Him up, they did not believe that there was something that He could do about this storm that beset them.
Beloved, Jesus is in the boat with you. He is the Mighty Conqueror, and He cannot be defeated. If He is in the boat with you, and He is “asleep,” wake Him up, not to say we are perishing, but believing that He is in control and He can speak peace to your every storm. Magnify His holy name. Hallelujah.
Have a very blessed day.
Heavenly Father,
You are God in Heaven above and in earth below. You are faithful and true, and there is none like You. Daddy, we thank You for all that You have been doing in our lives, and for taking care of us. Thank You because the Greater One is on the inside of us. Thank You because when we pass through the waters, You will be with us, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow us. When we walk through the fire, we are not burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon us. Thank You so much for You are worthy, in Jesus mighty name we pray, amen.
