Be Strong!
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for another day that He has made, that we can rejoice and be glad in, and for His mercies that endureth forever.
Primary Text: 1 Corinthians 16:13
“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16v13 (KJV)
“Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength.” 1 Corinthians 16v13 (AMP)
The Bible says those that know their God are strong and do exploits (Daniel 11v32). In the physical realm, we may call someone who has a lot of physical might, or a great army, or a government wielding a lot of power, strong. However, given we do not fight a physical battle, our strength therefore has to necessarily be spiritual. And our strength is in the Lord and in His mighty power. We have the Greater One on the inside of us, and we have an armor that we can put on. An armor that includes the helmet of salvation, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet shod in preparation for the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, and we have the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Put on your armor and stand fast.
Supplementary Text
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.” Deuteronomy 31v6-7 (KJV)
“For this reason [seeing the greatness of this plan by which you are built together in Christ], I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, For Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named [that Father from Whom all fatherhood takes its title and derives its name]. May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].” Ephesians 3v15-17 (AMP)
“In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God. Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).” Ephesians 6v10-18
