My delight!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text: Psalm 119v35
“Make me to go in the path of Thy commandments; for therein do I delight.” Psalm 119v35

“Make me walk along the path of Your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.” Psalm 119v35 (NLT)

“Direct me in the path of Your commands, for there I find delight.” Psalm 119v35 (NIV)

“Lead me in the path of Your commands, because that makes me happy.” Psalm 119v35 (NCV)

There are many blessings that come to the person that follows the commandments of the Lord, even as we see in Psalm 112. Psalm 1 also talks of the person who meditates on the law of God day and night as one that will be as a tree planted by the rivers of waters, who brings forth his fruit in his season. David knew that his happiness was found in walking in the commands of God, and so he asked God to direct, lead, make him walk along those paths. If David finds his happiness in following God’s commands, why then did he ask him to lead him in that path? Afterall, the law was available then for him to look at it and try to follow it. But perhaps, this lends to what Paul says of the struggle to want to do good, but ending up doing wrong. But we thank God for sending Jesus as a sacrifice for us, which ended sin’s control over us, and now through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are freed from the power of sin. Hallelujah.

Supplementary Text
“I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit. Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” Romans 7v21-25; 8v1-6 (NLT)

“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in His commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion. Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour. The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.” Psalm 112v1-10 (KJV)
