An Escape
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and
bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“By means of these He has bestowed on us His
precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by
flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world
because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the
divine nature.” 2 Peter 1v4 (AMP)
God’s great and precious promises enable us to
escape the moral decay that is in the world because of covetousness … When we
become believers, in Christ we become new creatures (2 Corinthians 5v17), and
He gives us His Spirit, and He begins to change us from the inside out, our
desires, wants, and gives us continuous victory over the flesh as we continue
to submit to His Spirit and let His Word change us (Romans 12v2). Because of
His promises to us, we also keep ourselves. For instance, 1 John 3v2-4, 9 (NLT)
says “Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but He has not yet shown us
what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like
Him, for we will see Him as He really is. And all who have this eager
expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure…Those who have been
born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is
in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.” Through
His Word, we become acquainted with His ways, and gain wisdom and understanding
as to what to do when we are in situations that beckon to us to conform to the
ways of the world. Finally, we have the great promise of His Spirit, who is
even now dwelling in us and is with us (John 14v17), and by whom we can live a
victorious Christian life. Romans 8v13 (AMP) telling us “For if you live
according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through
the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making
extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really
and genuinely] live forever.”
Supplementary Text
“Or do you not know
that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex
with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers
will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you
were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6v9-11 (NIV)
Prayer
Our heavenly Father, we thank You so much
because through Your precious and exceedingly great promises You have made a
way for us to escape the corruption in this world. Glory be to Your name
forevermore, in Jesus name, amen. May You be glorified in and through us now
and always in Jesus name, amen.
