Pride v. Humility
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in
the Lord.
Primary Text
“… For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the
overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful) – [and He opposes,
frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble.”
1 Peter 5v5 (AMP)
The Bible tells us in Romans 8v31 (KJV) that “What shall we
then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” And Hebrews
10v31 (NIV) says “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living
God.” Child of God, I’ve heard it said along the lines of, and you can bear
witness to this that God is a wonderful friend and ally to have but a dreadful
enemy. It is wonderful to enjoy the mercy, favor, and blessings of the living
God, but you do not want to be on the side that receives His resistance. That
is what happens when you are proud, for the Bible says God resists the proud,
but He gives grace to the humble. Psalm 25v9 and 14 (AMP) say “He leads the
humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way… The secret [of the
sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and
worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.” There is such great
benefit that comes to the humble.
Supplementary Text
“For thus says the high and lofty One – He Who inhabits
eternity, Whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, but with him also
who is of a thoroughly penitent and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the
humble and to revive the heart of the thoroughly penitent [bruised with sorrow
for sin].” Isaiah 57v15 (AMP)
Prayer
Heavenly Father we thank You so much for all that You are to

lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy, and dwell in the high
and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to
revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Father, we are praying for humility. Uproot every thing of pride in us, and
clothe us in Your humility in Jesus name we pray believing You will do this and
with thanksgiving for doing it, amen.
