Grow in the Knowledge of God

Hello everyone,

How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“But grow in grace (undeserved favor, spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (the Messiah) ....” 2 Peter 3v18 (AMP)

In addition to encouraging us to grow in grace, 2 Peter 3v18 says we should also grow in our knowledge and understanding and recognition of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. When we got born again, and perhaps before we got born again, we had some knowledge of who Jesus was. But we are not to stop there. We are to grow continually in this knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Paul wrote “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ – the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming more like Him in His death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3v7-11, NIV). Beloved, let our desires be like Christ. We thank God for His Holy Spirit who testifies of Jesus and guides us into all truth. John 15v26 (NIV) saying “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – He will testify about Me.” While John 14v26 says “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” Do you want to know the Lord Jesus more. Dig deep into the Word, and let the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Christ, reveal Him to you.

Supplementary Text
“May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love, That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it]; [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!” Ephesians 3v17-19 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, we thank You for Jesus. Father we pray to increase in our knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, we want to know You more, the power which raised Your up, to suffer with You and share in Your death, so that one day we too will experience the resurrection from the dead, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
