Scoffers …. A Request for Prayer post Hurricane/storm Sandy

“To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires And say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3v3-4 (AMP)

“First off, you need to know that in the last days, mockers are going to have a heyday. Reducing everything to the level of their puny feelings, they’ll mock, “So what’s happened to the promise of His Coming? Our ancestors are dead and buried, and everything’s going on just as it has from the first day of creation. Nothing’s changed.”  2 Peter 3v3-4 (MSG)

First thing Peter says that the believers should know and understand, is that there would be mockers and scoffers in the last days. What do these do? They follow after their own desires, basically doing what they want to do. Jude 1v18 (NIV) saying “They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” Another thing they would do is to say, so, where is the promise of Jesus coming again. You have been saying this for a while now, and nothing has changed since the beginning of creation. Child of God, don’t join the scoffing crowd. Psalm 1v1-2 (AMP) reminds us that “Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.”

Request for Prayer

I would like to ask that you pray for New York, New Jersey and other places in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean that were devastated by hurricane/storm Sandy. Please pray for those who loved lost ones that God will comfort them. Please pray that God will restore to and provide for those who have lost homes, and had other valuables destroyed. Please pray for the government officials, NGOs, and other relief workers, that God will give them wisdom, strength, protection and unity. Please pray that the Church of God will indeed be the hands and feet of the Lord, that He will give His children a heart of compassion, and help them to reach out to those in need around them.
