The Battle is the Lord’s

Hello everyone,

How are you doing today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Akshaph, and to the northern kings who were in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Kinnereth, in the western foothills and in Naphoth Dor on the west; to the Canaanites in the east and west; to the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites and Jebusites in the hill country; and to the Hivites below Hermon in the region of Mizpah. They came out with all their troops and a large number of horses and chariots – a huge army, as numerous as the sand on the seashore. All these kings joined forces and made camp together at the Waters of Merom to fight against Israel. The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them slain, over to Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.” So Joshua and his whole army came against them suddenly at the Waters of Merom and attacked them, and the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel. They defeated them and pursued them all the way to Greater Sidon, to Misrephoth Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpah on the east, until no survivors were left.” Johsua 11v1-8 (NIV)

Amen. Child of God, we know daily we are in a battle, against an adversary who walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom to devour (1 Peter 5v8); against adversaries which are not flesh and blood but principalities and powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6v12). Yet, regardless of how menacing, or mean our adversary is, our Lord is stronger, and He causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 2v14). Whatever form your challenge may come, perhaps it is a besetting sin, something causing you discouragement, or real intense battle – trust God, put your faith in Him to see you through. Like Caleb and Joshua, when we face adversity, we should take the stance of “… The land through which we passed as scouts is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land flowing with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord, neither fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their defense and the shadow [of protection] is removed from over them, but the Lord is with us. Fear them not.”  (Numbers 14v7-9, AMP). Beloved, that should be your stance – if God be for me, who can be against me (Romans 8v31). In the text above, the army came and were a multitude like sand on the seashore, but God gave the Israelites the victory. Whatever your promised land is, have faith in God (Mark 11v22), to give you the deliverance.

Supplementary Text
“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17v45-47 (KJV)

Prayer
Father, we bless Your holy name. Father, I thank You because You are the LORD of hosts, the LORD of heaven’s armies, and You always cause us to triumph in Christ Jesus. Father, I turn over every battle of my life into Your hands. Let it be known that You are my God, in Jesus name, amen.
