Why forget (2)

“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:” 2 Peter 3v5-6 (KJV)

I wondered about “the world that then was.” While in the days of Noah, the rain that fell 40 days and nights destroyed all living beings, apart from Noah and his family, and the animals that were with him on the boat, the Dakes concordance highlights “the world that then was” as predating even before Adam, saying “That the world that then was refers to the pre-Adamite world or social system which was destroyed by a great universal flood before Adam.” Jeremiah 4v23-26 (AMP) gives us some insight into this saying “[In a vision Jeremiah sees Judah laid waste by conquest and captivity.] I looked at the land, and behold, it was [as at the time of creation] waste and vacant (void); and at the heavens, and they had no light. I looked at the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly to and fro. I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the air had fled. I looked, and behold, the fruitful land was a desert, and all its cities were laid waste before the Lord’s presence, before His fierce anger.” These occurrences, are part of what the mockers that will arise in the last days, and follow their own desires and say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation” 2 Peter 3v4 (AMP), deliberately forget.

“Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.” (Ezekiel 28v11-17, KJV) 

Prayer

Father, we thank You so much for Your Word. God Almighty there is so much that we do not know, but You say call unto Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know. Father, grant unto us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, the eyes of our understanding being enlightened, that we may know what is the hope of Your calling, and what the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints is. This we pray in Jesus name, amen.
