False Teachings (2)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Let
me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to
you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is the
Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you –
unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first
place.” 1 Corinthians 15v1-2 (NLT)
In
order to guard oneself against false teachings, it is good to know the Gospel
for yourself, and remind yourself about it. Know the truth about the Jesus you
serve and who you are in Him. For we are told in 2 Peter 2v1-3 (AMP) that “But
also [in those days] there arose false prophets among the people, just as there
will be false teachers among yourselves, who will subtly and stealthily introduce
heretical doctrines (destructive heresies), even denying and disowning the
Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many
will follow their immoral ways and lascivious doings; because of the true Way
will be maligned and defamed. And in their covetousness (lust, greed) they will
exploit you with false (cunning) arguments. From of old the sentence [of
condemnation] for them has not been idle; their destruction (eternal misery)
has not been asleep.” However, we need to stand firm in the Good News that we
first believed and welcomed and not be swayed by different doctrines and false
teachings. Beloved, let us be
careful and be sensitive.
Supplementary Text
“I
am surprised and astonished that you are so quickly turning renegade and
deserting Him Who invited and called you by the grace (unmerited favor) of
Christ (the Messiah) [and that you are transferring your allegiance] to a
different [even an opposition] gospel. Not that there is [or could be] any
other [genuine Gospel], but there are [obviously] some who are troubling and
disturbing and bewildering you [with a different kind of teaching which they
offer as a gospel] and want to pervert and distort the Gospel of Christ (the
Messiah) [into something which it absolutely is not]. But even if we or an
angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from
that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to
destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!” Galatians 1v6-8 (AMP)
Prayer
Father
God, we thank You so much for Your Word and the Gospel. Father we pray for the
Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better. We pray too
that You will expose every false teaching in Your church and that You will keep
us from believing them in Jesus name, amen.
