Kings and Priests (5)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Food [is intended]
for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will finally end [the
functions of] both and bring them to nothing. The body is not intended
for sexual immorality, but [is intended] for the Lord, and the Lord [is
intended] for the body [to save, sanctify, and raise it again]. And God both
raised the Lord to life and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not see and
know that your bodies are members (bodily parts) of Christ (the Messiah)? Am I
therefore to take the parts of Christ and make [them] parts of a prostitute?
Never! Never! Or do you not know and realize that when a man joins
himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? The two, it is written,
shall become one flesh. But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit
with Him. Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity
in thought, word, or deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside
the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Do
you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy
Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You
are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness
and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him
in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6v13-20 (AMP)
As a priest of the
Lord, living a life that honours God is very possible. Living a holy life and
one of purity is possible. God has made provision for His children to be able
to do so. Philippians 2v12-13 (AMP) says “Therefore, my dear ones, as you have
always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would
show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate,
carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and
awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of
conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever
might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). [Not in your own strength]
for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and
creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good
pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” The scripture here says
that while we have our part to play, like Daniel making the decision, being
determined not to defile himself; and like Joseph who actually fled from
Potiphar’s wife instead of sinning; God will help us. Indeed He will give you
both the desire to and the ability to help you please Him.
Prayer
Father, we thank You
for Your Word this day. Blessed be Your holy name in Jesus name, amen. Father,
we do make a decision to live holy and pure lives that are acceptable to You
and we thank You because You are working in us, giving us the desire and the
ability to please You. Thank You for Your great love and kindness towards us.
All this we pray in Jesus name, amen.
