The Spirit of Truth
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The
Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart),
because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and
recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.” John
14v17 (AMP)
The Holy
Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. One of the things that the Holy Spirit does on
earth is to bring reprove (Greek word is elegcho – to convince, convict,
refute, expose, to bring to shame the person reproved); given that He is the
Spirit of Truth, He can present the Truth to people and through that bring
about conviction. John 16v8-11 (AMP)
says “And when He comes, He will convict and convince the
world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness
(uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment: About
sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me];
About righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God), because
I go to My Father, and you will see Me no longer; About judgment, because the
ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world [Satan] is judged and
condemned and sentence already is passed upon him.” The Dakes
Concordance Bible explains more about this: “of sin: that unbelief is the
foundation of sin and the source of sinfulness that will damn men (Mk. 16:16;
Luke 8:13; John 3:16-20, 36: 5:24, 38; 8:24; 10:26); of righteousness: that
man’s righteousness is useless (Isa. 64:6; Rom. 10:3); that Christ is our
righteousness (1 Cor. 1:30); and that in Him alone and by faith in His atonement
can we be righteous (Rom. 3:22-25; 4:1-22; 2 Cor. 5:14-21); … of judgment: that
men who believe in Christ will escape the judgment of damnation (Jn. 3:15-20;
5:24) that all who refuse to believe will be damned with Satan (Mt. 25:41; Jn.
3:36; Rev. 20:11-15; 21:8).” Even as we pray for loved ones and people all over
that do not know the Lord, we can ask that the Holy Spirit will do His work in
convincing and convicting them of sin, righteousness and judgment.
Prayer
Father, we thank You
for Your Word and the working of Your Spirit. We pray that Your Spirit will
indeed do a mighty work in convicting the world, our friends and those who do
not know You of sin, of righteousness and of judgment in Jesus name, amen.
