Kings and Priests (4)
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Food [is intended]
for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will finally end [the
functions of] both and bring them to nothing. The body is not intended
for sexual immorality, but [is intended] for the Lord, and the Lord [is
intended] for the body [to save, sanctify, and raise it again]. And God both
raised the Lord to life and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not see and
know that your bodies are members (bodily parts) of Christ (the Messiah)? Am I
therefore to take the parts of Christ and make [them] parts of a prostitute?
Never! Never! Or do you not know and realize that when a man joins
himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her? The two, it is written,
shall become one flesh. But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit
with Him. Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity
in thought, word, or deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside
the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Do
you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy
Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You
are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness
and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him
in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6v13-20 (AMP)
Beloved, God desires
us to live pure lives; purity in our spirit, souls, and bodies. The world would
make immorality look like a light thing; just an expression to show someone you
love them. But the Lord tells us that the body is not made for immorality but
for the Lord and we should glorify Him with our bodies. Do you not realize that
your body is the temple of the Living God and that God dwells in you by His
Spirit? Would you now bring impurity into the temple of the Lord? No! If it
were a physical temple, you would turn up your nose at every form of defilement
that you saw in it; indeed you will be appalled if you were even to see some
perverted graffiti on the wall of your church. But we are the body of Christ,
we are His members and for that reason, we need to be pure. Romans 12v1 (TLB)
says “And so, dear brothers, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let
them be a living sacrifice, holy—the kind he can accept. When you think of what
he has done for you, is this too much to ask?” Is this possible you might ask?
Yes, by the power of the Spirit. For it is not by our power, our might but by
the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4v6).
Prayer
Father, we thank You
for Your Word this day. We confess and ask for Your forgiveness for any way we
have lived in impurity. We ask that You cleanse us in Jesus name, amen. Holy
Spirit, we yield to You to control us and direct us. Lead us not into
temptation o God, and deliver us from evil. Help us to indeed flee fornication
and shun every appearance of evil. We put to death the deeds of the flesh by Your
power, and pray that we live lives that glorify the Lord always in Jesus name,
amen.
