Trying Times
Dearly beloved. I trust this finds you well and
bubbling in the Lord. The Lord told us that we would have trying times, but the
Word of God is also clear about what our attitude to trying times should be.
John 16v33 (AMPC) says “I have told you
these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence.
In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration;
but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I
have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have
conquered it for you.]”
The Lord told us we would have trying times,
distress, frustration … Looking up synonyms for frustration, we find
exasperation, disappointment, irritation, dissatisfaction and annoyance… Ever
find yourself in this type of situation? But what should our attitude be – it should
be one of good cheer. Take courage, be confident, undaunted. Synonyms for
undaunted include carefree, undisturbed, unconcerned, unworried and fearless.
Hallelujah. Why is this? Because Jesus has conquered the world for you and
deprived it of the power to harm you. Amen.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for Your will for us to be of
good cheer in the face of trying times. In fact, we are told to count it all
joy when we fall into diverse temptations. Grant us the grace to do this, to
remain undaunted, fearless, carefree, undisturbed, unconcerned, and unworried even
when things are changing all around us. Blessed be Your holy name. In Jesus
name we pray, amen.
