A New Song for the Captives

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God that we serve a living God with whom nothing is impossible. Jesus came to preach deliverance to the captive. A captive is someone who is confined or restrained e.g. a prisoner of war; “someone whose behavior is dominated by some emotion” e.g. a captive of love (www.dictionary.com). A captive is someone that is not free.

Primary Text: Mark 5v35-36
“Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and lovingkindness and His wonderful works to the children of me! For He has broken the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron apart.” Psalm 107v15-16 (AMP)

A captive could be bound physically, spiritually, emotionally, in the mind, in the will, captive to some life controlling habit, to sin. But Jesus came to preach deliverance to the captive. The Word says “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8v32). “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” (John 14v6). I don’t know what area of your life you feel bound or captive, and can’t get free. Why don’t you bring it to the Lord today? (Matthew 11v28). If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, why don’t you answer His call and let Him in. He is the Saviour, and He will save you from all your sins. Child of God, the Spirit of the Lord dwells in you and is with you, (John 3v17). “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3v17). Even if you are captive because of decisions you took intentionally, there is still freedom for you in Jesus:

Supplementary Text
“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.” Isaiah 49v24-25 (KJV)

Father, I come to You today. Saviour, save me from every captivity I am in, in Jesus name, amen.
