A New Song for the Poor

Hello everyone,

Grace and peace abound toward you in Jesus name, amen. I find it amazing that our God is so awesome in strength, power, might, glory, appearance, and yet He extends His grace, and peace, and fear nots towards us (Revelations 1v4&17); encouraging us to draw near to Him, and He in turn will draw near to us (James 4v8). In this year, may you approach God boldly and confidently, knowing He loves you, understands you and cares for you. Don’t turn your back on Him! One of the things Jesus did was preach the gospel to the poor. One can be poor in spirit, financially, in health, in mind, “deserving of pity, or unlucky; inferior” (www.dictionary.com). When the poor encounter Jesus, they get to sing a new song. Hallelujah!

Primary Text: 2 Corinthians 8v9
“For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).” 2 Corinthians 8v9 (AMP)

Jesus preached, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6v33). And we know that the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14v17). Twice in the past 24 hours, I have heard about surrendering all to the Lord – every part of our lives to Him, not just trusting Him with some parts, and withholding other parts from Him. Sometimes there is this fear of giving Jesus our everything because we think what if He asks us to do something that we cannot or don’t want to do – like give to someone, or sell all we have and give to the poor, or preach the gospel. “O taste and see that the LORD is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” (Psalm 34v8).

Supplementary Text:
“This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34v6 (KJV)

Father, I surrender all to You. Make me into who You want me to be, in Jesus name, amen.
