What a Gift!

Hello everyone,

How are you today? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. There is a prayer that I learnt at a young age – “Some have food but cannot eat, some can eat but have no food, we have food and we can eat, glory be to Thee o Lord, amen.” The Bible says:

Primary Text: Ecclesiastes 5v19-20
“And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life – this is indeed a gift from God. God keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.” Ecclesiastes 5v19-20 (NLT)

Hallelujah! What a wonderful gift this is from God. A gift of wealth and health, and enjoyment of the work one does, and acceptance of your lot in life, that is a gift from God. Some do not have the wealth or income to enjoy the basic necessities of life. Some have the wealth, but not the ability, to enjoy it. Some have work, but are not happy doing it. Still others are so dissatisfied with their lot in life – dissatisfied with their family, their friends, their ministry, where they find themselves. Child of God, there are so many things that God gives to us that we should learn to be thankful and grateful for, which so many people do not enjoy. Moreover, the Scripture writes that people who have this gift hardly brood over the past, or reflect on the days of their lives, because God occupies them with gladness of heart. For instance, you know that you have gone through some intense situations in your life and in your past, but in a miraculous way, it doesn’t seem very significant anymore. Ecclesiastes 6v1-2 paints a different scenario:

Supplementary Text
“There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men: A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is a vanity, and it is an evil disease.” Ecclesiastes 6v1-2 (KJV)

Why don’t you thank God for all you enjoy from Him, and ask Him for this gift if needed?
