The Choosers
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Pay
careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a
job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we
are each responsible for our own conduct.” Galatians 6v4-5 (NLT)
Apart
from those who accuse others and situations and those who give excuses for the
different situations they find themselves, there is the wonderful class of
choosers; they choose responsibility for their happiness, goals, the direction
of their lives.... Joseph chose not to succumb to the temptation brought by his
master’s wife (Genesis 39v8-9). Daniel chose not to defile himself with a
portion of the king’s meat. Daniel 1v8 (AMP) saying “But Daniel determined in
his heart that he would not defile himself by [eating his portion of] the king’s
rich and dainty food or by [drinking] the wine which he drank; therefore he
requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might [be allowed] not to defile
himself…” Daniel knew what he wanted and took steps towards making it a
reality. He didn’t make excuses or succumb to fear. David chose to fight
Goliath and remained undeterred even in the face of his brother’s negativity (1
Samuel 17v28). Joshua chose to serve the LORD with his house regardless of what
the children of Israel chose, Joshua 24v15 (KJV) saying “And if it seem evil
unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the
gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the
gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we
will serve the LORD.” Child of God, be wise, be a chooser!
Supplementary Text
“An
intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many
directions.” Proverbs 17v24 (Good News Translation)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for Your Word. Help me to be wise. I thank You because my times are
in Your hands. Help me to take responsibility for the decisions and actions
that I take in Jesus name, amen.
